Two-headed calf sadly didn't survive

Call it a miracle or just plain strange, but a two-headed calf was born on a Northeast Nebraska farm on Monday, to the surprise of Chris and Michaela Jessen. The Jessens said, "I told Michaela 'we got a calf out there with two heads, Michaela.' She said 'no way!' 'No way!' I didn't believe him. Did not believe him. What's wrong with the baby? What do you mean? No we do not have a two-headed baby."

But, oh yes, they did. Michaela and Chris didn't name him, but they do call him their "special delivery." The couple is expecting their first child in a month and thought that would be their one and only miracle this year. "How can this happen? Can he survive? What else is wrong with him?" asked Michaela.

Michaela and Chris tried their best to comfort their two-headed calf. "He did eat, we would try to feed one mouth and both tongues would actually swallow," said Michaela. But all attempts at survival proved futile, life would be just too hard for this little guy.

"He never could lift his head on his own. Just too weak. Very, very weak. He could never stand. And even when you did try to stand him, he would just fall over, his head was so heavy," said Chris and Michaela Jessen. This miraculous calf didn't even live a whole day, 20 hours to be exact. But it's a day this family will never forget.
