Probably confused swan cordoned off by Italian police

Police in Milan requested the intervention of animal rescue workers after a swan was spotted on a pavement on Tuesday morning.

In a call to the ENP animal association emergency switchboard, the swan was described as being apparently in good health, but probably confused.

Prior to the police arriving, someone had left the swan a bowl of water with some salad. The area around the swan was cordoned off by the offficers.

Given the ease with which it was caught by the rescue workers, it is possible that the swan is semi-domestic and was disoriented, although it cannot be entirely ruled out that it is wild and was tired after a long migratory flight.

There's a photo gallery here.
