A tale of compassion about Jack the goat and Charlie the blind horse

Unconditional animal love was evident between Charlie and Jack, a blind horse and a goat who lived together for 16 years at the Wild Heart Ranch in Oklahoma.

Charlie was a 40-year-old blind horse. About to be put down after he lost his eyesight, Jack, a 16-year-old goat on the same ranch, adopted him.

Unprompted, he took it upon himself to lead Charlie to the ranch’s hard-to-reach grazing patch during the day and then back to the barn each evening.

Jack continued to accompany Charlie until the day his old friend passed away. Once his friend was gone, so did Jack’s purpose. He soon followed Charlie out to pasture for the last time.
