Car parks let you pay with conkers

Until Sunday, several car parks in Leeds and Manchester are accepting payment for parking with conkers.

People stopping by at Town Centre Car Parks Merrion Centre and Clarence Dock car parks in Leeds and the multi-storey at 30 Tariff Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter are now accepting conkers in exchange for parking.

One conker will afford you 20p worth of parking up to a maximum of £10, that’s 50 conkers. Town Centre Car Parks will then sponsor a forest in the United Kingdom to help offset the rising levels of emissions from vehicles.

Ben Ziff, Managing Director of Town Centre Car Parks says “Car emissions are on the rise throughout the country. We thought it would be a fun idea to raise awareness and give a little bit back. We all have fond memories of looking for conkers so this seemed like a great idea for our customers. We are looking forward to seeing how many people bring us”. (Terms and conditions apply).
